Default Aftermarket Warranties

Last Year, when I bought my new Bonnie, the factory warranty had expired like two days before the purchase. A bud of mine hooked me up with WarrantyGold.com, which was offering a 5 year/100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty for something like $1300.

Ok, no brainer. The way the outfit works, you take your car to any mechanic, and they pay him by credit card, less your $50 deductible. (They offer $0 deductible also, but that was more money).

Well, my car started throwing codes (Service ejector seat, clean jet turbine, etc, you know, usual stuff) so I called them to let them know I was going to take the car in. Turns out, their insurance carrier is in recievership. That'* Bankruptcy, for all you non-lawyers. So, be careful. I think the aftermarket warranties are a great idea, but do your homework before buying.
