I thought the SC'* get at least twenty something more mph?
Thats the problem, I don't know anyone with a GTP to race.

< Me still trying to fathom how a top speed limiter reduces acceleration. Maybe you can enlighten me?
If I floor it, it will stay in 3rd gear which has a 108 mph limiter. I have to ease up on the throttle, thus reducing acceleration, so it shifts into 4th gear which is limited to 128 mph. What was GM thinking with that kind of programming???!!!!!

Interesting point SilverBullet.
However, like Rogue, I do not have any problem accelerating past 108 mph at WOT and neither did the GTP I was in when we hit 123 mph.

Mine is a late 2000 build but my GTP didnt have this problem either...
Have you actually left it in 3rd gear and been able to accelerate past 108 mph in your 2000 SSEi :?:
Car & Driver Nov.1999 - "We rarely have complaints with GM automatics, but this one comes up short when the gears are manually selected. The gearbox'* brain forces a first-to-second shift at 5500 rpm, regardless of shifter position. Yet when left in third gear above 100 mph, it won't force a shift into fourth and instead engages a 108 mph speed governor - 18 mph less than the top speed in fourth - at an inexplicable 4050 rpm."
I know the same is true of mine which was made Jan.7, 2000.
