I thought the SC'* get at least twenty something more mph?
They did in 97-02. In '03 they decided they were going to change a bunch of ****, including the computer. And I am not 100% sure on this, but I was told that the 2003'* had the speed limiter lowered to 108mph like the N/A'* had, why I don't know, but supposedly that is what they did.

Thats the problem, I don't know anyone with a GTP to race.
Now I don't know about a 2003, but I know where there is a 2002 40th Anniversary you can race.....

My moms car has no mods. I would like to race another virgin as well. Also, you sadi the limit is 108 then the GTP is beat! No challenge at all.

You are getting false information. A friend of mine'* dad has a 2003 GTP. On the back from the Casino in Barrie, Ontario - down highway 400 - I was in the passenger seat when the speedo hit around 199 km/h (123 mph).

:? < Me still trying to fathom how a top speed limiter reduces acceleration. Maybe you can enlighten me?

Only thing I can think of is that the limiter does limit acceleration at speeds over 108 mph.
If I floor it, it will stay in 3rd gear which has a 108 mph limiter. I have to ease up on the throttle, thus reducing acceleration, so it shifts into 4th gear which is limited to 128 mph. What was GM thinking with that kind of programming???!!!!!

Interesting point SilverBullet.

However, like Rogue, I do not have any problem accelerating past 108 mph at WOT and neither did the GTP I was in when we hit 123 mph.

Hmmm.... I even remember a siimilar complaint about the 2000 SSEi in a Car & Driver Road test. The 3rd gear 108 mph limiter. Maybe GM resolved the problem for new years or some lucky few 2000'*. It'* kind of hard to complain that your car should be accelerating better from 108 to 128 mph.

Well, SilverBullet, you have given me something entertaining to do on April 1st of next year. That is, go to Goodwrench Service and explain to them that "there seems to be a reduction in power at around 108 mph." I will then say, "It seems to improve until about 128 mph when the car seems to get awfully loud. Can one of your guys come on a road test with me to see if this is normal?"

Are you sure about that :?:
Have you actually left it in 3rd gear and been able to accelerate past 108 mph in your 2000 SSEi :?:

Car & Driver Nov.1999 - "We rarely have complaints with GM automatics, but this one comes up short when the gears are manually selected. The gearbox'* brain forces a first-to-second shift at 5500 rpm, regardless of shifter position. Yet when left in third gear above 100 mph, it won't force a shift into fourth and instead engages a 108 mph speed governor - 18 mph less than the top speed in fourth - at an inexplicable 4050 rpm."

I know the same is true of mine which was made Jan.7, 2000.
