Knowing what I know about the 2003 GTP'* computer I would say the Maxima would win, just because the 2003'* for some odd reason have lower shift points, lower rev-limiters, and lower speed limiters. (It is governed at a measly 108mph from what I have heard) But modded......thats a whole other story.

Are we literally dealing with a 2003, or the current generation, which is an '04?
Either way, 2002/2003 Maximas have 255hp @ 5800 and 246lb-ft @ 4400.
I quote Car and Driver:
GP GTP CG (abbreviations attack! heh) gets to 60 in the mid sixes?
Either way, 2002/2003 Maximas have 255hp @ 5800 and 246lb-ft @ 4400.
I quote Car and Driver:
6.0 seconds to 60, 15.7 to 100, and 14.7 seconds at 97 mph over the quarter-mile

I'm not sure about 2003 GTP'* but the new 2004 Comp GTP with 280 hp will do 0-60 in 6.6 sec and the 1/4 in 15.0 @ 93 mph.
The Maxima should beat the GTP, providing both drivers balls are of equal size.
Of course with all the tricks you can learn from this site, it'* easy to mod up a little and reverse the odds.

Edit: I had "around 14.8" in brackets and it gave me a "14." + a smiley with sunglasses.

Unfortunately, I hardly think Pontiac’* data is accurate. It is hard for me to believe that a 2004 GTP (with a 20 hp increase) is slower than a 2003 GTP. This makes me wonder whether the numbers they stated for the Maxima are, in fact, accurate. However, one would think if both cars were tested in the same manor, the numbers and results should be valid.
Hopefully, after looking at the personal best for my ’00 SSEi you will be confused too. :?
BTW, here is a table for anyone / everyone’* enjoyment:
2003 GTP = 240 hp & 280 lb-ft. of tq.
2004 GTP = 260 hp & 280 lb-ft. of tq.
2003 Maxima = 255 hp& 246 lb-ft. of tq.
2004 Maxima = 265 hp & 255 lb-ft. of tq.
