Default interior lights come on at random

My interior lights will come on anytime the car is not running,no key in ignition, doors closed....Basically when it'* parked. My first guess would be the headlight dimmer switch or the contacts in the doors....Any suggestions?...............92 SE

I would check the fuses possibly, then if that didnt work, just yank the light bulbs out until you fix it, so the battery does not drain.

Poltergeist?

If that'* not it, I'd buy your dimmer (interior override contacts) or a door switch. Could also be a door LATCH lever switch. Do your lights normally turn on when you lift a locked door handle?

I've got this problem too. Quite irritating.

Default Still stumped

Well I replaced the headlight dimmer switch and since this car had a old alarm system that didn't work(bought the car a year ago) I removed all the wires that was part of the alarm(what a spaghetti mess that was of wires)...Came home last night, surprise.......the lights came on again!!!! And yes if the doors are locked, the lights will come on if you lift the handle. All fuses good.Anybody know what I'm looking for inside the door........is there some kind of switch or some wire that grounds through the striker plate?

Looks like the switches are inside the door, up near the latch. You are looking for a pair of wires that goes to the "lock assembly" near the latch.
