My personal opinion is to not use ultras on and 2000+ bonneville. I've been hearing a lot of reports of them lasting 6 months or less. The standards seem to be fine though. The cause seems to be how the headlights are mounted and causing more vibrations.

You can use the HIR bulbs in regular sockets. The tabs just need to be trimmed a bit. The best price is at John Deere parts (believe it or not). Here'* a link to the JD part numbers and "how to"
