Default Silverstar Ultras

I got a gift card for autozone for Christmas. Hmm, how'd they know? Well, I looked around for a tool or 2. But I either have it, or don't need it, yet. So I looked around and decided to get some new headlights.

Here I have changed the left bulb, and the old one is still on the right. Nice difference.

Quite a difference. Almost cant wait for mine to burn out. My high beams sends people towards the ditch (unintended) but my low beams have alot to be desired. But I just aint gonna spend the money till I need too. For now my highbeam switch gets a workout.

I didn't need them, I just got them because I got a gift card and it was burning a hole in my pocket. I took the old bulbs and put them in the SS packaging and stuck them in the glove box, just in case one goes out. I've read that some last a long times, and others burn out real fast.

I know the feeling, I walk down that aisle all the time amd check out bulbs. With me drawing down my retirement early and the market slide, I'm not into impulse buying right now. The wife'* been good about things, but spending her paycheck on car goodies just dont get it. Guess I gotta wait another year for that used GT350TT.

had a question for you gxp guys, i notice your high beems are a different model completly so i started searching and found that its not a very popular, or cheap bulb. wanted to get your oppion on how much brighter the high beams are.
also theres a guy on ebay that sells the low beam equivalant of the highs bulbs. thinking about upgrading but they run about 35 a bulb. figured i would ask around first see what you thought

heres the address
eBay Motors: TOSHIBA HIR 9011 & 9012 BULBS, THE BRIGHTEST AVAILABLE (item 180309868653 end time Jan-30-09 10:53:36 PST)

The GXP uses a 9011 HIR bulb. Halogen Infared Reflective Bulb. They are used by high end cars including the BMW Z-8 , Dodge Viper, Infinity 130, and the new Maximas as well. They "slipped by" DOT normal standards somehow, and are very bright. I have forgotten to dim and all but drove people into the ditch. First made by GE for SUV'* in the late 90'*, GE'* original design was fragile and they sold the license to Toshiba who redesigned it. If it isnt a OEM Toshiba, it'* an inferior clone so beware. They use same wattage as OEM and can be filed down to fit 9005/9006 bases. Nearing the brilliance of HID without the hassles, rewiring, and legalities problem. I just found out they could be modded and plan on retrofitting my Pickup with them.

Here'* a nice write up/ supplier.
