Friend of mine had it done to his new Jeep SRT-8 and it looks good even up close (Although you can tell its there if you look hard enough).
The 3M stuff is supposed to be the best.

We have seen several of these clear palstic films come into my Clubs Custom Shop and in time they weather and when removed, it pulls paint chips off where it has been hit and makes it worse in the end then if nothing was used at all. GM makes a small bra for the 2004-2005 GXP that fits just on the leading edge of the hood the width of 4-5 inches. It has built in leather wind deflectors and it works very well. I use mine whenever I go on highway trips and to custom shows out of town. It is very easy to remove and put back on. Dont let it continuosly get wet and dry on the hood and You wont have any problems. It can be ordered from the Dealer.

I put it on and snapped a couple pics so you could see how it looks. I had a small chip, when I purchased it last summer and have had none since.
