Default Pain coming off roof

Hi all just wanted to see if any of you have had this problem, and what I can do about it.
My pain on the roof , just above to winsheild and back a quater of the way. Has been peeling off, from there back and the rest of the car is in good shape. I have noticed that quite a few Pontiacs, from all different modles have this problem. Is it just a bad paint job from the factory?
I did try and put someprimer on the places, but that didnt have much affect. I did it to help it not to rust. But for some reason that chipping away too. And this is the pearl White color, the others were darker colors.

well i beleave the problem with GM'* paint was resolved by '98. and She said it was pearl white which wasnt avaliable for the bonnevilles(at least not in the '90'*).

I would like to see a pic or two to get a good idea of what the issue here is

Default paint

hi, ty u 2.
Sorry about the name for the paint. I called it that because thats what someone said he thought it was. All I know is its white and the paint code is:U9753. If that helps.
Well what would yall suggest? Go to a auto paint place and get a good type of primer, to hold untill I can get the roof painted? Like I said earlier, only the roof is affected, the rest of the body is in very good shape.

yeah thats NOT pearl only pure white pearl GM has is WA800J.

it seams to me your best bet is to rubb off with fine sand paper the flaking clear coat (DONT SAND TO THE METAL!) then prime the area, and get it to a body shop as quick as possible

Yes to what he said. ^^^

And remember that primer is not a good long term protectant. It is porous by design. It will protect the car for a short while, but get it painted as soon as you can.

Thanks.
I hate the white color. I'm going to sand dow the roof untill I get to where it quits peeling, then Prime it good. Because, Im going to change it to the Chevy Laser Blue. code:21U.
What a beautiful color.

Wow! good for you!

But ambitious and costly. Keep us up to speed and include pics when you do things. We're admitted pic hogs...lol.
