Default needs electrical help desperately

My 97 bonne is slowly draining me !!!! She has had electrical issues since I bought her, most of them fixed now. Her most recent issue is the interior lights flash on and off, then stay on killing battery. She has been to the garage three times and no one can find the short. Bought a brand new $135.00 eliminator battery yesterday when I left the garage and today it'* dead. Tried boosting her then the vats kicks in and no fuel on the fuel rail. So yet another tow to the garage. It is becoming a huge issue. I'm not looking to get rid of her, just some help on finding out were this short is that no garage can find. I put to much money into this car to part with it. So if anyone has any suggestions on what or where to go from here it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Have you tried pulling the light switch and testing it? Shorts are a major pain to track down. It'* going to be a lot of time with a DVOM testing wires, plugs, and switches.

no I haven't tried anything lately. It'* at the garage right now (again, for the third time with this ). But I was wondering way no one can find this short. I've paid for fuel pumps, spark plugs, alternators, battery that they say will fix my issues. But that'* not what'* happening. Theirs something draining the battery. Then when I try to boost it the vats turns off the fuel pump. So their main concern is to get it running. They gets it running and says their is no short.

I've seen a few cars drain batteries because of the ELC. Pull the fuse for the level control and see if that helps. If so, you know where the problem is. If not, pull a few fuses until you find it.

Interior lights pop on when they aren't supposed to correct?

Ok, pull the drivers door panel. Go into the door up by the handle there is an odd black plastic dealio on the handle with wires going to it. Green and white or green and black as I recall. Unplug it. Leaving door panel off, see if the symptoms persist.

The purpose of the switch is to light up the interior when the handle is pulled and door is locked. Courtesy feature that becomes a major pain when the switch goes bad. Being that the drivers door is the most used, it goes first.

the 96-99s ELC pump is controlled by the ignition, unless it is on the pump will not run. however it can vent pressure for about an hour after the car is off.
