Default Transmission 4L60-E problem Shifting into gear 2&3

Without any warning I was driving and suddenly realized I was slowing down but I was still accelerating? We did a code reading and it said fluids/filter/torque converter module? So we changed it?(if it was the right part/selenoid) with purchase of filter and gasket they came with A & B solenoids, so changed them as well since already had pan off. But, no change. SUV runs Great! Until going to accelerate to higher gear and repeats same original problem? It did overheat the fluid and the old fluid was brown and gritty. It’* been parked since. 5 months without a car.. as for the mechanic (an aquaintece for whom has worked on vehicle for past 5 years) after replacing the above. Costing over $500 in parts & Labor. Didn’t even want to go any farther and told me the tranny was shot and he couldn’t be bothered??? Is it shot?

Maybe, especially if the fluid was gritty.

Can you clarify what actual codes were stored? There is no code for "fluids/filter/torque converter module" .

Oh yeah, also what year, make, and model is it?

How many miles on it?

How many miles have you owned it?

How many miles since the previous transmission service?

Codes do not tell us what parts are bad It sounds to me like you had a regular engine guy doing this. The code gives us direction as to what systems to test. The last thing you need is a guy who throws parts at the problem. Give the codes and we shall see what you have.
