Fuel Pump Issue
#11
First thing is that we actually needed a "Flex Fuel" pump, got that, changed it and now a security indicator light is coming on.

Husbands 2007 Chevy Express 5.3 L van died on the way to work, would not restart and stay running, all electrical worked fine. Had it towed home and replaced the fuel pump as that was determined to be the issue. We actually cut an access panel in the floor to replace the pump as the tank had just been filled up with $70 worth of gas. First fuel pump was bad! Second fuel pump is good, but the van won't stay running. One question is whether or not something needs to be reset on the computer? Or what other possibilities could it be?
I got fuel delivery problems too.

Van just died on the way to work and wouldn't restart, had full power though. We have a mobile mechanic who said it was the fuel pump, but that is not solving the issue...now we are told possibly the fuel pump relay. So it is possible that initially it wasn't the fuel pump, but the relay, don't know yet!

Last I knew, the security will PREVENT the vehicle from starting. If the security has a fault AFTER the vehicle is started, it should stay running.
I'm not sure if your year/model has ignition switch issues like the *-10/Blazers etc.

Verify you don't have a P1682
The symptoms of the Chevrolet truck ignition switch problem on trucks from 2002 through 2008 are different than the ones associated with the older trucks. These drivers often complain about flickering warning lights on the dashboard.
In addition, when the switch begins to fail they can cause an intermittent no start and even a stalling condition. When these intermittent malfunctions occur, you almost always set a trouble code P1682. On GM vehicles this manufacturer specific trouble code represents a failure of the ignition switch.

It'* not the fuel pump relay, unless it is the relay and it is showing zero oil pressure. As long as it has oil pressure it will stay running even if you pull the fuel pump relay out.
