Hi everyone! My friend and I just found a 1993 Chevy Lumina APV minivan sitting in the back of his property today and tried to start it up, but no lights or anything happened when connected to a 200 watt battery jumper. The car looks to be sitting for about 9 years as the registration and inspection expired in 2007. Any tips for getting this thing up and hopefully running? There seems to be about 145,xxx miles on the clock.

Check to see if the engine will turn over by hand freely before you even start cranking on it. Probably would be good to put a few drops of oil down in the cylinders to make sure it is free.

Also look for rodent damage.

Would I need to clean the battery terminals to get the battery jumper to work?

That was about to be one of my first suggestions......also,the battery in there could be so badly sulphated, even jumping it won't work........
