Default Trunk Ajar

I have 1996 Buick Park Avenue Ultra 157k. I have the auto trunk close option however it doesnt work. Is there a way to get the trunk ajar light to go off? Trunk will still close by hand.

You would need to test the switch to see if it'* the problem.

the trunk ajar light didnt come on until after the auto trunk feature stopped working. Is there a sensor or something I can check for dirt, broken/frayed wire??

If it is because the pull down motor quit working you can replace the actuator/motor.

Here is a thread somebody else has up on that same pull down motor.
Mine went bad at around 100k, I still need to replace it.

Sorry let me clarify, they had a different year vehicl, but same pull down motor problem.

Also, there is a cheaper pull down motor, I'd go with AC Delco, but the Dorman one should work pretty good as well.
