97 park avenue vin k my daily driver that I redid the heads and plenum myself 11 thousand miles ago waits till now to turn on ck engine soon light. Just when I need a NC state inspection so I went to Napa and bought a new purge valve and gas cap and it stayed off for four days and after 1/4 mile this morning the P1441 is back . I also have a 2000 pa with supercharger that I'm replacing wrist pins and pistons, and a 98 regal and they don't have the same setup as the 97. I was a repairman for 40 years and messed up my hand and took a driving job and sold my snap-on scanner and all I have left is a matco code tool so I'm out of the loop. There is another vacumn valve connected to the purge valve at the intake with a large plastic vacumn hose that I don't know what it is. And I need some clues to look for and don't have alldata anymore so a good engine vacumn diagram and trouble tree would be great if anyone can share them. Thanks in advance for any ideas--Leonard

I'm guessing that vac line from the purge valve is going to a vac switch......If that vac switch is not closing, it'* not sending a signal to indicate vac/purge flow...or there could be a wiring problem in the harness to the vac switch...

If the harness/wiring is fine, then the purge valve has either failed again, or the hoses going to it are incorrectly ran.
Do you have something to check for vacuum?
If so check out this video, it is not great, but simple and to the point on how to test for vacuum.

On my 96' PA one hose goes from the purge valve to the Throttle Body, the other goes to the EVAP canister, my canister is under my air filter housing, I believe yours in in the back right somewhere, like this guys is in the video.

If possible try to get some pics of the valve, and the houses coming off of it.

Ahh wait, Tech II is right, on the 97 one hose runs to the vac switch, found an old pic of Art'* that shows the routing.

I just ordered a new switch from ebay 17 bucks w/ free shipping it is worth a try and Thanks again and I'll let you know the result. Leonard

I hope you went with ACDELCO 214567 for the part, the others are not too bad, but when it come to any electrical parts I always try to stick to AC Delco or Delphi.

That is the AC Delco Vapor Canister Check Valve, and not the Purge Valve, if you look in the picture I posted from Art earlier, on the right side you will see the Vapor Canister Check Valve, on the left near the plug wiring is the Purge Valve, if you need the Purge Valve order ACDELCO 214567
