Vehicle Anti-Theft System VATS Bypass Keycode # 9 | eBay
Any one know any thing about these ? His customers seem very happy .
What I was wondering is what to expect with the rest of the system ? It would seem to me that all this would do is trick the computer into thinking the proper key was in the ignition ? Lets say your key didn't work all of a sudden , then you installed one of these , would any thing need to be re-set as in towing it to the dealer

What this looks like, is a plug in for a PassKey I or Passkey II system, that has this type of connector in the steering column....it only works if you have a #9 ignition key.....this is a key that has a resistor pellet on the shaft of the key, and it is equal to 3.01K ohms, or 3,010 ohms.....there are 15 different keys, with different values.....chances are your key is not a #9 key....
This is plug and play for 20 bucks......
or
You can buy a 5 pack of 3000 ohms resistors for $0.99, and cut the wires to the harness at the connector, and solder the resistor into the harness,,,,,

I get that , I have a #1 key . What I wanted to know is are their any repercussions to installing it and if so at what point ?

Generally what happens is the wiring breaks going to the ignition cylinder reading the key. When this happens, the VATS can't read the resistance across the pellet in the key, and the vehicle will not start.
The easiest solution is to determine which key you have, wire up some resisters to approximate that resistance, and slap it in the wires going to the TDM. It appears that this is likely a bit tidier of a solution. It does seem like a tough sell at $20, but in the grand scheme of things, it does appear plug and play, and the problem then goes away at that point.
This does not help with TDM failure causing a no-start, this only simulates the key in the ignition most likely.
There are other solutions out there that can eliminate the TDM completely, however they are a bit more involved.

It looks like the only one he is selling is for a #9 key...you have a #1 key, so this won't work for you....
The only repercussion from this is, you have basically disabled your Security system for starting.....so now the lock cylinder can be popped, and the car now started...
