Hey, i have a 2011 buick lacrosse cxs, and i got a code for a fuel pressure regulator, and when searching for it i keep coming up with fuel rail pressure sensor. So im wanting to know if their the same thing or sumwhat similar? The code is no longer coming up all i have are missfire codes “head scratcher” so im confused a little. Because maybe it didnt say regulator and i assumed to quickly or something. Any help is much appreciated.
Situation: about a 3 miles away from home coming back from out of town and still on the interstate, when i let off of the gas the car would decelerate roughly and flash check engine light, but when i get on the gas to pick back up speed it would act perfectly fine, and the check engine light would then go off. So i just stayed on the gas as much as possible until i made it home. N its been in garage every since.

First off, it would help to know what that code is.......
This is a pretty sophisticated fuel system.....since this is direct injection, we have two fuel pumps and two fuel pressure sensors.....one on the line out of the tank and one on the fuel rail(high pressure).....there is an electronic F/P Reg in the tank, and there is an actuator in the high pressure mechanical pump that regulates the fuel on the rail.......
These systems are a complete joke......when things go wrong, they are expensive to repair, parts and labor wise......
A 2011 3.6 FWD is rated for 27 mpg HWY........the old 3.8'* got better gas mileage and were simple to R&R....all GM has done is design a more costly mouse trap....
Take an injector out of a 3.8 fuel rail........easy peasy....now try to take one out of the head of a 3.6, that'* been in there awhile......all this sophistication, and with no increase in gas mileage....ridiculous....

Omg, i can see this is going to be difficult.. im gonna try and pull it out n take it for a spin and hopefully it does it again and gives the code. And are you saying tjis car has 2 fuel pumps

Ok i went out n drove for about an hour and half on interstate which is a little over the drive when it originally happened. Hooked my scan tool up n all i hav is “ random misfires” and misfire 1 & 5.. which i believe are only there because of what originally took place.. gonna trytaking it to my job and back and see if it gives dont wanna have this over my head. Would weather play a possible part in this? I tend to usually drive my park avd in any weatherous conditions as the lacrosse has 19” low profiles.. maybe it sucked up some water somehow as it was raining heavy. If its a possibility pls let me know, Thanks
If this is the engine I think it is, it has direct injection.....what that means is, engines with with direct injection, have their injectors in the heads, and fire directly into the cylinder, where as, the old systems would fire their injectors outside the cylinder, but directly over the intake valve of the cylinder......since you are firing into a cylinder that is under compression, you need more fuel pressure, and thus a secondary high pressure pump.....
Hopefully, what you have is a bad connection somewhere....... like at the actuator to the high pressure pump or at the pressure sensor to the fuel rail.....FYI, that high pressure sensor can't be seen.....you have to remove the intake manifold to get to it......
So you were getting a P0301 and a P0305? You cleared them and the other code, and they haven't come back?

Misfire on deceleration,I have run into valve issues on those. Can try an Induction service to clean carbon from the back side of the valves if the problem persists.Hope you find this helpful

Ok few days after, car is running perfectly fine as if nothing is wrong and nothing ever happened. My barbershop is about 1hr from my house and i drive there and around a bit and back home and still nothing. Im assuming a possibility water got to the sensor below near the tank and it made things get all wacky. Gonna send the fuel sensor back i ordered for the rail and get the one near the tank or probably just swap both. And giv tht induction service a try soon after.
It'* been cold out, I wonder if he may have some moisture in fuel as well.
I might try a water remover & two bottles of Chevron Techron Concentrate (wallyworld) & tak'er her out for a good long hwy boogie.
Have you done any tune up like plugs/ wires on your ride as well?
