Have you had the car scanned for codes?

How long does the cruise light stay on? Does it sustain, and then randomly shut off? What exactly does it do?

OK, whenever you post a problem, it helps to know the year, make, model, mileage, and diagnosis that you have done.....

Checking your profile, I see it'* a 2000 LeSabre......

Do you have steering wheel controls? If yes, when you are driving above 25 mph, if you press the on/off button, does the cruise light come on in the dash? And when you release the button, does the light go out?

If this is the case, safely drive the vehicle with no cars around, above 25 mph......press and hold the on/off button on the steering wheel....then momentarily touch the set button...does the cruise engage? If yes, release the on/off button....does it disengage?

If yes, then you need a new on/off switch......very easy to replace, just get the right color....

the light only comes on if I hold the button down. I have not had it scanned. It doesn't engage at all

I apologize for not having the info in the post. The light does not come on unless I press it. It does not engage at all.

Do your brake lights come on bright when you press the brake pedal? (as opposed to the driving lights in the same housings)

I took your advice on pushing the button and engaging the set/coast button. It did work and all I needed was a new switch!!! Thank you so much!
