That'* a very good choice. I did a ton of research before I bought mine and really liked that unit. I went with the Pioneer because I wanted touchscreen but that JVC looks really solid and it has a lot of features. I played with it at Best Buy and it seemed pretty good in person too.

so i got my head unit the other day and i was going to install it this weekend, so i took apart the dash everything went well i plugged it in and all the connections were great but when i wanted to put it into place i noticed that the brakets for the original radio are built into it and that the metal sleeve that usually comes with aftermarket radios is useless. how the hell do i put it into place ?

Noticed this on the Crutchfield site.

Installation Details

Installation Details for your 1997 Buick Century Sedan with 6 speakers
To install this item, you'll have to modify your vehicle.
If your vehicle has the OnStar system, you'll lose the voice prompts when you replace the factory radio.
You'll have to unbolt or cut out the factory stereo'* rear support bracket to make room for your new receiver.

Sounds like you will have to make sure that rear support bracket mentioned has been removed, then you should be able to use the aftermarket double din install kit.

link doesnt work for me. you need a kit like he said to adapt the aftermarket radio, and like he said most times you have to trim that piece in the back

Hello-My first post. We have a Buick Century 1997. I have a concern with the radio controls being very warm to touch. Any of you all have a similar issue? MKK
