Any experienced 3900 owners on here?
Looking at a low mileage 2011 Buick Lucerne with the 3.9 engine. Does this engine have cylinder displacement/deactivion/ AFM on it? It'* only got 32 k miles. I know it'* not 3800 but how is the reliability of it so far?
There aren't many folks out there that are experienced with the 3900. It just wasn't out there very much.
I don't think this car had Active Fuel Management. From what I know of it, AFM was only on the 2007 Impala version of this engine.
As far as reliability, it did okay from what I know of it. We haven't seen much of it here. It has ancestry that goes back to 1980, but it did do some first-ever innovating in its design, for better or worse. The bright side of not having seen much of it here is that it didn't have any glaring terrible issues all the time.
I suspect that, if it has been treated well and if it is treated well in the future, you could get at least 100,000 miles out of it, probably more.
