3.8l out of buick park avenue
what would a good price be for a 3.8 liter engine out of a buick park avenue. it is not the 3800. it has 132k on it. and it is the engine only, no trans/starter etc...
Depends on the Year! I just picked up a 3800 NA Series II out of a 96 Regal LS for $200.00 CDN!
It was complete with TB, Injectors, Coils & module & complete wiring harness too!
Under 500 MAX, if it'* complete, and easy to manually turn. That'* an older engine, and very easy to come by. You probably won't find one with that low mileage again, though.
Drink a beer and think about it. If you have to offer, start at 150.

I word of caution, I had an Old'* with just a 3.8 liter in it, it lasted 3,000 miles and it blew up on me. I was stupid enough to put in a sec. 3.8 in it and lasted me 1,000 miles and blew up on me. If it'* not the 3800 or Series, I would be hesitent about getting it. I also put 2 tranny'* in it too, they both sliped badly. The car only had 108,000 miles on it. The engine and tranny came together for 500 bucks, but didn't last. It sucked so bad wasting all that money.

The engine in my 88 le is of the vin 3 type. It has about 187 k miles and runs fine but the alternator is giving me probs and the rest of the car is going south too. Have never complained about the engine though runs and runs and runs. The only thing I can remember fixing on the engine was the timing gear that was rounded off at about 110 k miles or so but I don't remember the exact miles.
