Where is the VIN tag located on an '89 Skylark? It'* not on the left side of the dash. Unless it fell off the door, I can't locate it My title says the eigth digit is a "U" for the engine ID code but I can't access my ECM with my scan tool. I think I have a 4 Tech engine (at least that'* what'* on the air filter housing) and a website I looked at said the engine ID for that type engine is "R". I'm thinking someone put a different engine in my car since all of the speed sensors I have looked at for my year car look nothing like the one I have. Thanks.

There should ba an rpo sticker on the spare tire cover that should have it too. What is in the place of the vin plate on the dash?

Left side of the IP (dash) but not near the door. Look up by the windshield. You actually read it from the outside looking through the windshield down at the IP top pad. You can't read it from inside the car because the angle is too steep.

LOL! I see nothing of the sort. Hopefully my car wasn't invoved in a murder or a drug deal gone bad. Never know here in Pine Bluff, Ar.

Its there, or at the very least, there is a small rectangular shaped opening in the IP top pad where the VIN plate should be.
