Default 205/75R14 classic

I did some homework about this on a couple of boards and want to see if I'm understanding what I've gathered.

I'm looking at new tires (4) and leaning torward 215/70R14 or 215/75R14. The original specification is 205/75R14. From what I've read, it seems like the extra width and height and load index are all good things. Curbweight is 3297 and I've seen load indexes from 93 to 98. I'm mostly making short local trips, daily. The specified smaller tire may be easier on the transmission, while larger tires will be easier on the suspension. I've been running 215s for ages. My gas mileage is terrible but probably due to multiple issues and is not a consideration. Am I making sense?

Would you stick to the specified tire size or go for the bigger tire? Everything on this car is tired.

Thanks.

I agree, stick with stock unless you have some need to change.

As the others have echoed.

You have cheap tires, enjoy it while you can

I have a heart attack buying 16 inch tires and thats considered lame old school now anyway. 18 inch tires are enough to dissuade ever considering a vehicle with them LOL
