Default What tires are you guys running instead of the RS-A'*

I hate RS-A'*. I don't understand how Goodyear can get away charging what they charge for them as replacements considering their are soo many tires out there that are better, just because these are "OEM Tires". Let alone, sell them period. But I digress.

I've been searching, up, down, left, and right and the best tire in our size, 235/50-18, for the dollar is the Kumho ECSTA ASX. It looks ok, it turns in excellent numbers (not best in class mind you, but FARRR better than the RS-A'*), but my only problem is that they're, well, Kumho'*! Now I know a lot of guys in the F-Body community love them, but I just have a problem putting them on the car.

So I started looking at various other sizes. The closest size is a 255/45-18. This would result in the speedo being -0.8% slow. The best tire in that size for the dollar is the Yokohama Advan *.4. which I would love, but the Wife doesn't like the price. Grrr.. I like Yoko'* too.

Another size option is 245/45-18. This leads me to a Yokohama AVID W4S. I love this tire! I had the V4S on my GTP. But at this size, my speedo will be (2.1)% slow. There are a couple other choices in this size like the Yoko TK520 which is an awesome tire, but comes with an additional $20 per tire on average. Or a Falken FK452. I understand these are made by Goodyear, but I have heard little experience with this brand tire.

So, I wanted to see what any of you guys are replacing your OEM RS-A'* with?

I replaced my RS-A'* with Toyo Proxes, which I think are very good tires.

I had RS-A'* briefly on the Aurora when I first got my SSEi rims. Only had em for a season, then swapped on some hefty BFG Scorcher T/A 255/50R17'*.

No real issues with the Eagles, but I understand they are lousy in winter condition, I mean REALLY lousy.

The RS-A'* on my cav were AWEFUL in the winter....but then again that was the first winter I had my cav, so I am not familiar with how it could/should handle in the winter.

I like the Falken'* but there is little to no feedback on them.

I love our 18'*, but why did Pontiac have to make it such an oddball size! All those other tires mentioned aren't available in our size or the other two sizes I mentioned.

Oh, by the way, why the heII did this get moved to general chat? I asked a specific question pertaining to a specific size tire on a specific car, I.E., the GXP! AS such, other people with non-GXP vehicles answered (which I don't have a problem with BTW), but there answers don't pertain to the problem I'm having with finding tires for an 18" wheel on a GXP!

WTH is the point of having a section for these cars if half the sh*t gets moved out??

The ECSTA ASX is the one I'm looking at. It'* also the cheapest by far which is a huge selling point.
