Is the Check Engine light on?

I would scan the PCM and see if there are any active codes or pending codes stored. I think even certain (maybe all?) pending codes and active codes will prevent remote start.

Also, check the hood-closed switch. If it is refusing to remote start, push down on the hood over the hood switch and see if that solves it.

I have to check why I have to push down on the hood, maybe adjust it or jump it out of the circuit.

Yeah, try to adjust it. Might be that the hood is a little high, or maybe that the switch is a little low. 18 years of driving, weather, vibrations, and hood slams adds up.

Touched nothing so far!!! Yesterday I tried bumping the hood between button pushing the hood. Today 31 degrees went out hit the buttons 25-30 feet away fired right off, this intermittent stuff is super aggravating.

It might be worth replacing the hood-closed switch just to rule that out. These intermittent issues often take a long time to troubleshoot, and this one would require insight into what the car is thinking every time you haven't touched it for hours then ask it to start. The alternative is to start to troubleshoot reception issues, and I don't think it is that because when it works, it works from far away.
