If possible motor lock up I usually recommend the compression test before the repair, that way you are sure the motor is still in decent condition, and worth going ahead with the LIM job.
Usually it is fine, but having one done gives me more peace of mind, if he wants a lot to do one I'd not bother at this point, especially if he has already did the repair and the car now runs fine.
