HI! Newdie. IMy son hit a giant bankment of some type in SC when we had the huge flood a few months ago. He said it made a loud pop sound on pass side under hood. Problem is, he waited till now to tell me. That sound was a bolt broke in the block. Theres a bracket thing that goes around the motor mount where the serpentine belt is. It looks like a boilt is on the right side of it and 1 on the left side of it. The right side one is broke and sticking out of the block about only an eigth of an inch maybe.
Is Does that bracket only have 2 bolts holding it into the block, one on the left and 1 on the right you think? I cont see anything down there because the entire side of the motor, from top to bottom, is covered in rubber crud from the belt rubbing on the bottom of the car, looks like the cross member, for the last 6 months or so! Crazy that he didnt tell anyone till now. But when the mount dropped from that bracket'* bolt being sheared off, it allowed the serpentine belt to rub on the bottom every single time the engine was running, for months! So you can prob imagine all the rubber down there and everywhere. Cant believe the belt never broke! Amazing.
Sorry so long of a post, just wanted to know if you all had any ideas what to do now that you can see the whole picture. Thaks for any help with this broke bolt, and or what to do next!! Thx a lot!

I have no idea how that broke. I don't remember the exact configuration when I did my water pump, but I do recall that I had no concerns about breaking anything on this bracket, and I break things pretty easy. I don't remember hearing of any cases of any failures associated with a broken or failed torque axis mount, aside from the rubber deteriorating in it.

I think I can get to it now that I actually moved everything out of the way. I appreciate the help. Next thing will be the CPS. I hope that actually gets it running back to normal. But thats another post! Thx again!

Do you have enough room to swing a hammer a little, and use a drill?
If so you could use a small punch on the center of the broken bolt, then with an EZ-Out kit and a reversible drill then you should be able to back it out with the Ez-Out bit..
A tip, find out the size of the drill bit you are going to use, and get a few extra bits, make sure they are cobalt bits made to drill tough metals.

If it is tough to get out you may be able to use a T Handle Tap Wrench, but I am not sure how well that would work as I have not personally tried to use one.
Make sure if you try to drill/tap it that you keep spraying a little WD 40 or something on it every few seconds, it will make you break less drill bits...

Thanks WilliamE! Yes, had good bit of room after getting everything moved out of the way. (hope I get it all back together right, HA!)
But yes sir, I was able to get it out. What ended up working was the ol standard vicegrips, squeezing them on the tip of what was left of the broke bolt, as tight as humanly possible, and turning it little by little by little, etc. Then, after a little more of that, I actually could turn it with my fingers until it came all way out. Got Lucky I think!
Man, I liked the extractor sets you linked to the post. Do you actually have one of those 3 sets you sent a link to? And if so, is there one or two of em you really like? I want to buy all 3 of them! But cant afford each one so was wondering which one you all or William liked best. Thanks a lot for help!!

I have not purchased any of those extractors yet, luckily I have not needed one, but I'll eventually add one to my tool set.
I am not sure which would be better, but I am sure one of the others will know the answer to that, those two got the best reviews, and were the best sellers.
The third link was just to a tool sometimes used to extract when in tighter places, it may not be necessary.
