The electronically adjusted HUD oh my GXP does not move or "adjust itself" while driving. Your dealer is giving you bogus info. Maybe that or I got lucky with a good unit, that I don't know. Good luck with the GXP, how you liking it so far?

Not talking about it adjusting itself, but of there being a "looseness" in the adjust mechanism.

Yeah, lilke damemorder said, its not adjusting itself, its like a vibration almost. Other than that and a few other very annoying but minor problems I like it.

It'* a defective HUD unit or the way it'* mounted in your car,....you should NOT have to just live with it!,.....SO,the dealer replaced one(they obviously aren't all that way,as 5.3 Avalanche'* works fine).......have them keep replacing them until they get it right and it doesn't shudder........

Agreed, the dealer should take care of this. If this was a problem with all the GXP you can be damns sure Pontiac would be recalling them. The lackluster sale of the GXP is hurting Pontiac and they wouldn't have this kind problem just floating out there hurting sales more. Talk to the service manager, and then the dealership manager, and then the owner. Is your warranty through the dealership or a third part? You might try getting it fixed at another dealership if its 3rd party.

The problem definitely isn't with all GXPs. My Heads Up Display is rock solid.

The Service Manager should be contacted and you should explain your concern to him/her. Tell him you are not sastified with the repair, you believe it'* a safety issue and remind them of the survey from GM you will be getting in the mail. Their salary is sometimes based on results of it. Be nice but concerned!

Not all GXP'* have this problem. Mine doesn't. They will replace the unit as many times as needed until a correctly working one is installed. It is a self-contained unit that is not repairable by a Tech, same goes for the radio, instrument cluster and HVAC controller.
If you are not sastified with the repair call back GM customer assistance and tell them.

I have checked for bulletins on GM'* internal website for this concern and found none released yet. I will update you if/when one is released.

Ok, thought you would like an update. I called Pontiac a few times since I last posted. They decided to offer me 12 months or 12,000 miles of oil, lube, and tire service. Essentially a year of oil changes for accepting the HUD the way it is. I counter offered saying that I should be able to drive every GXP they have on the lot, find one that has a good HUD, and have that installed in my car. Well, they didn't want to go tearing apart new cars so they told me to bring my car in for another look. They gave me a Grand Am loaner, HUGE change from a V8 to a 4 banger....

WOW,that'* mighty nice of them to offer you 4 oil changes and a tire rotation(roughly $125)if you will 'go away', and make their life easier,...while you have you live the rest of your car'* life with a bouncing HUD ,......go with the 'replace the HUD/HUDs until one works as designed' route,by all means........

There were no major design changes in the dash underpinnings between the 2003 SSEi and 2004 GXP. Demand nothing less than a proper WORKING replacement. And perhaps Pontiac Customer Service should be directed to this topic? Send them a link. Or I can do it on your behalf if you'd like. PM me your complaint number if you have one.
