side or top mount - GM Forum - Buick, Cadillac, Chev, Olds, GMC & Pontiac chat

Audio (and aftermarket electronics) This is your place for alarms, remote starters, to brag about your system, exaggerate your db levels, or simply ask questions for stock or aftermarket audio. No Flames! (except from roasted amps)

if your battery has both, use the side for the stock stuff and the top mounts for the audio stuff.

go with the top mounts. you will thank yourself in the future if you do. because if you use the side mounts, you are limited in a space and on how much you can put there. with the tope you have plenty of room to work with. so like he said, use your side mounts for stock stuff and your top for all audio and aftermarket stuff. if you dont you may regret it later, i know i did.

I don't regret not going with top, because my battery does not have them (yet) for 3.99 (*2) I was able to do my install pretty nicely.

I have 1 2ga and 1 4ga on the positive side (in addition to the stock one) and 2 4ga ring terminals on the negative side.

Works pretty well for me.
