So my headunit quit putting out sound a week or two ago (i could turn it on, it would play the cd, antenna would go up, but no sound) and now the screen that tells you the time doesnt even turn on. Anyone have any ideas?

Did you ever hook up that Alpine? I know you mentioned you were looking for an aftermarket HU.

I'm only guessing yours is stock, for a couple reasons. I don't think the antenna would go up when playing a CD on an aftermarket HU (only the radio). And having a 98, if your HU is stock, the screen on those seem to fail a lot. I have seen handfuls of those displays that didn't work at all in 97+ Bonnes. I don't know how common the problem is though.

How do you know the CD is really playing though if there is no sound, and nothing visible on the screen?

Of course this is all speculation at this point.

it was a stock HU, i know the cd waqs lpaying because before the screen quit working it would allow me to turn tracks and switch radio stations.

The headunit had defaulted but last night I installed a new CD player and 2 12"*. After its all cleaned up i might get some pictures

So driving back from my girlfriends house my new aftermarket headunit just shut off and wont turn on now. My volume was maybe half way and the subs were running but they had been running all day without problems, WHAT THE HELL COULD THIS BE???

Fuses alright? Maybe a loose wire somewhere.

What were ur volts like?
