well after a LONG time i got my car running agian. tracerd the problem to a blown fuse in the fuse link i put between the alt and the fuse block in the front of the car. by the time ifigured it out i had put the old alternator back in the car. my question is i had a 300 amp fuse in at the time and it blew. i put a 250 amp one back in with the stock alt but i want to put the high power one back in asap as my stereo needs it BIG time. the problem with this car is the batt is under the rear seat. most cars you put a fuse link after the battery and then befor the amp. i put mine after the alt and then a fuse block after the battery. is this going to work or is the fuse going to keep blowing. thanks

Well I know you want those fuses close to the battery that goto the amp. But that alternator fuse might keep blowing. Im not sure how much power that pumps into the battery but I think its more than the battery origionally had. Thats just my 2 cents.

Not sure about the gauge of the wire..but you may want to consider the "big 3" as it'* called. By adding 4 gauge wire running to each one.

i beileve the Big 3 is a little different on the 00+ because of the location of the battery....the alt rewire is possible as is the rewire with the Battery.... but the wire that leads from the Alt to the battery will be a little difficult with the battery placement

it only means you would have to run a wire through the firewall. Run a ground from the alt to the chassis. and then a larger ground from the battery to chassis. same exact concept, just different locations.

i already have 0/1 gauge wire running thru the whole car. to blocks that distribute and step down to 4 gauge that the amps accept. am pulling the fuse link from under trhe hood tommorow and re installing the high output alternator

put the h/o alt back in and pulled the fuse link and it is all good. so this weekend i wil remove my box and redo the truck. i pulled my 2 red tops out of there trying to figure out the problem. i will be going back to the yellow top running the car and 2 red tops running the stereo. the h/o alt idels at about 17v but drops when i push the amps so switching back to more batteries will fix this for good....finally

Good to hear you figured it out. Question is your DIC voltage saying 17v, or on a meter?

Also were did you get that H.O. Alt from? I'm about do for one myself.

i paid out the a$$ for mine. it was like 700.00 but it is just like stock and drops right in. and it is all internal. i can not remember where i got it but there is a link to it in one of my post on here. now i can finish the trunk. with the new box i am going to have to move my amps to the floor in front of the box so i can get to them for tuning purposes plus i am going to get me another 1000/1 so i can run 1 sub per amp. i want to blow the windows out.....or get the ladies looking from a block away....
