I get the "Check CD" message. I have took the radio out and attempted to clean the lens with Alcohol. Put back in, same thing.

By taking out the radio, I would assume that resets it? Or should I reset it through the battery as well?

I do not want to get an aftermarket, looks like too much of an issue and loose features of the car possibly. What are my other options? Do I need a certain radio for the VIN "Same as Car" issue?

Please offer suggestions....not sure what direction to head with this issue?

The lens itself is probably bad, so, you'd probably have to replace the unit with the same type of unit out of another similar GM vehicle. What kind of vehicle is this unit in?

The Bose Radio is out of a 2000 Pontiac Bonneville SSEI. Is there any places out on the internet that you are aware of that will just sell a refurbished CD Player that goes in the Bose Radio itself? I was able to separate the CD Player itself from the radio by disconnecting the connector that connects directly to the circuit board. The CD Player is a separate device within the radio.

Try and find a similar model on Ebay. Or, splurge the big bucks on a decent aftermarket unit.

Thanks everyone for the replies...however, I have one last question:

I have a self-service junk yard near my location and other than getting a direct match radio from another 2000 Bonneville SSEI, are there other make and model vehicles that I might be able to get the radio out of and simply remove the CD Player component from that radio and install it in my current SSEI radio? My radio and cassette deck work, just not the CD Player portion.

CD Radios in this yard are only $29 and I can pick up two of them and take my chances if the CD Player portion works or not. Just need to know if there are interchangeable parts with any other Pontiac cars that might be in this yard if the bonnevilles for some reason do not have radios in them.

hi. maybe i can help. i know of a place in saginaw, michigan called M&R electronics. they sell remanufactured radios or, they can rebuild your old one. the phone number for these guys is, 1-800-343-1382. give these guys a call. they can help you. remember, if you get another factory radio other than your original one. you'll have to go to the dealer to get it reprogrammed. so i would recommend that you get your original repaired. they are good radios. i have one myself. hope this helps you. good luck. www.M&Relectronics.com
