Default Overdrive is gone...common?

Just dropped my car off at the dealership for some transmisson issues today and it turns out that I have no overdrive. I was just wondering, is it common thing for the bonnevilles? I have just over 82, 000 miles on the car.

Yes it does sound like a common failure but usually at a little higher mileage and usually with the SC engine.

It must have had a hard life. :(

Yep, it'* common. 4th gear clutch hub if I remember right. The mileage is a little early though. Brace yourself - mine was $1500 to fix and $4500 for a new tranny at the stealership.

Well the good news is that I was smart enough when I bought the car to pick up a 2 year powertrain warranty. It was $1100 for the two years but after this it will have paid for itself twice
