I would do a Oil Change right away and see if it changes.. IF not

Might be the Pressure sending unit.

When mine crapped out it pegged at max pressure. No warning either.

Maybe I'm crazy, but those readings look perfectly normal to me..That'* what both of our Bonnevilles run right around. :?:

EDIT: For grammar.

Looks like a cold morning start up to me. Typical sending unit shows as pegged. The reason for that is the internal seals go bad and oil leaks into the electrical of the unit. That shorts out the sensor and sends a direct short back to the gauge instead of X resistance.

I agree that it looks pretty normal. Maybe just a smidgeon high, but not bad. The oil pressure sensors seem to be either good or bad...no in between.

See normally my pressure is at or just above 40 while stopped and at 60 while driving. Today is the 1st time this has happened and it'* just kind of all around the gadge. I'm not used to seeing 60 while stopped and a smidge over 80 while driving. I dunno, I thought maybe it was the start up myself, but its still doing it.

If it makes you uncomfortable, I'd say to swap the thing out. It'* not an expensive part, nor very hard to do.

Are you hearing any knocking or ticking engine noises while your gauge is doing that?
