Fastt...being SC'd the maf is in the TB right in front of the SC and the way the wastegates are setup in the SC...there'* no way to bypass or fool the setup as to the amount of air, unless the maf screen is missing.
I'd have to agree with the poor connection or mashing of wires theory.. odd as it seems...it'* very possible.

If you have the chance, could you check around and see if you can locate anything obvious? This could help our members if someone runs into a similar problem, and may also help you, as the problem could come back as the wires/connections break or corrode.

I know the path of the intake, but AFTER the MAF, there are PLENTY of potetial leak areas...it is a supercharger that puts excessive pressure on the intake system path all the way up to the top of the piston, correct? Now, with all the one-way valves, vacuum lines, 6 intake ports, upper and base charger gaskets, a rear and front nose gasket, not to mention 12 valve seals, of course throw in a leaking throttle blade shaft and/or gaskets....and you present quite a few points of possible leaking...yes? All of which could be showing boost, but never making it to the cylinders. Highly unlikely, I know, but considering some of the buzzards I see go thru the auto-auctions these days, it wouldn't surprise me. I can't tell you how many T-Bird SCs I've seen go thru with orange silicone ooozzzing out the covers from a tacky "rebuild". Some of the SSEi chargers are the same or close.
It'd be nice to know for sure the problem, as I'll NEVER be convinced a faulty MM was the DIRECT issue. At least you fixed it!!
