Amazon has deal on AC-DELCO fuel pumps
Amazon has AC-DELCO fuel pumps for the 2000-2005 Bonnevilles for $234.62. Right below the price is a instant coupon for 20% off, bringing down the price under 200. That is a great price. Might be a decent incentive to replace that fuel pump and also get your fuel level accurately reporting again. I know one can replace the fuel sending unit, but the fuel pump in these Bonnevilles are over ten years old- might just replace the entire unit for peace of mind.

The Bonneville always fires up the very instant the key was turned. The last few days prior to it dying, it turned a second or two before starting.
With it not starting, did some basic troubleshooting. I smelled no fuel while turning over. Checked the schrader valve, no fuel came out. Heard no noise from fuel pump when key was turned on either. Checked the 20 amp fuel pump fuse, it was good. Swapped the fuel pump relay, no change.
Narrowed the problem down to two likely items. Fuel pump or fuel pump ground. It has been raining so I decided to just order the fuel pump, as it has 219k miles and does not report proper fuel levels. If it ends up being the ground I will just return the fuel pump.
The pump will arrive Tuesday. I started spraying PB blaster on the fuel pump ring, it is super rusted. Will spray/ soak daily until pump arrives. I believe breaking the ring from the pump will be hard- the only hard part of this job.

Well good luck Mike busting that top ring free. I hope all goes well.
Take a few pics if you can!
Look forward to hear that your car is up & running and reading correctly again!

Guns, Kent-Moore makes a speciality tool for that fuel pump ring, I picked up a used one on e-bay for $75 and sold it to a member here for $65 when I was finished, so it only cost me $10 plus postage for it'* use which was well worth it. The tool does require the use of a 1/2" drive breaker bar or ratchet which you probably already have. The tool does make the job of removing the ring a snap.

Rog,
Found your old post- this is the part number you posted : Kent-Moore J-39765
Can't find any used at the moment. New is 150+. Expensive tool new, but having removed more than a few of the rings, I think it is a great tool to own. Lots can get damaged trying to remove the ring in a tight space with a punch and hammer.

I'll never forget the day, someone tried to remove the ring on a Riviera.....rusted bad....finally moved, or so he thought....it was a plastic tank.....the ring moved the insert in the top of the tank....had to get a new tank....removing the old tank was a nightmare.....everything was underneath it....

I used the tool because I'm pretty much CS and paranoid about doing anything that can generate a spark in the area of the fuel tank. Years ago I knew a guy that tried to remove rusted fuel tank straps with a torch, he survived but ended up horribly disfigured.
