With the randomness of your problems, there'* probably a sensor wire that a braided or a bad ground. Did you get any codes?

You may have to drive it until you get a code (SES light), then whip into Autozone and get it scanned. Leave the car running until you get it scanned.

Limp mode? When it came to Bonnevilles?

Could it be related to the fact that my friend drove the car and changed the gear to the 1st gear while driving. I dont know how fast he was going and I dont know what was going through his mind when he did it... But I think after that the problem started.

Could the PCM be reseted easily? Because the service light is on once in a while as well.

The 1st gear switch.. As long as he wasn't going over 40something, the car should have been fine. I've used it for slowing down going down a hill, and my car still revs over 4K when i'm driving. Correct me if i'm wrong, but while it isn't good for your car, I don't think shifting into lower gears is necessarily too bad of a thing to do, provided you're within the speed of the gear.

By the way, if anyone knows, why can you rev to redline in neutral while you're moving? It seems like if you can't do it while you're stationary then there'* no reason to do it while driving.. Any particular reason for it?

In sutozone they tried to read the codes but they didnt get anything.. they tried to read them while the engine was not running.. should the engine be running while reading the codes?

Never found a reason in the FSM for it. It does say that if you are moving over 15mph in neutral that it will not restrict until you hit the other fuel cutoffs.

Hello!
Today the SES light popped up and I drove immediately to Autozone to get the code. I let the engine run while they tried to get the code but they didnt get anything.... It just said that "error". Then we tried to read it with only the key turned on but still nothing.. The meter he used was OBD II and it should be the right one for getting the trouble codes.

The reason it said error is because they used an OBD2 only code reader. Your car...in GM'* infinite wisdom has an OBD2 connector with OBD1 codes. Major pain in the butt Certain Actrons are able to scan them. But it'll toss most folks for a loop if they don't expect it.

Hello guys!
The car seemed to work properly and we drove it from tennessee to florida last week. After driving 1,5 hour the car didnt switch the 5th gear anymore and after driving 30 min like that the car didnt switch gears 3 or 4 anymore and we were only able to drive it very slowly.. When i parked the car I rev the engine and it rev normally so the broblem has to be in the gear box? After waiting 30 min we were able to drive 1,5h again and we made to florida. This same routine continued when we drove it back yeasterday. So the problem has to be connected to heat...

Any ideas?

I had a problem where my 94 wouldnt rev up well, the longer i drove it the worse it got til it wouldnt idle... i had a cracked plug, and a major exhaust leak... fixed both and put new wires on just for good measure and shes been good... but this would all happen within 30mins of driving, and by 45 i had to kill it and let her cool down, so im not sure, but something to look into
