Default is this a starter problem?

94 bonneville, approximately 190,000 miles.....

Noticed today that my car was having a little more trouble starting than usual. Ended up stopping on a few errands around time, each time with it being a little more difficult to start.

Got home, came back out to the car thinking this was a battery issue. Tried to start it again, motor slowly turns. Tried once again, and now nothing. I figured it was the battery, got it tested. It was good, but talked the man into swapping anyways. So, now it has a brand new battery.

Came back home, put new battery in, and once again nothing. All lights, radio, etc work. Just no turn of the motor.

I removed the starter and will get it tested tomorrow. Does this sound like a starter issue, or is there something else I should be alerted to? Thanks for any help.

corrosion could be an issue too. esp being 13-14 years since it came off the line.

regardless if the starter is good or not, cleaning the cables at both ends is a must. you could even replace the cables if you want to go all out.

Its pretty typical that I have to clean the lines near the battery anyways. Usually about once a month I give them a good cleaning. Never considered cleaning them near the starter.

also clean the connection between the block and the starter. use sand paper or wire brush or w/e, but that hte ground for the starter.

Took the starter to autozone today, confirmed dead. Does anyone have a warranty on a Duralast starter that they would let me use??

I have not had good luck with Autozone starters. I was putting a new one on every year with my blazer. Visteon makes a pretty good remaned starter

X2 - Don't even bother getting the Duralast. lasts 3 months if you're luck. Get their OEM starter if you can afford it or go to Napa. Hell, I'd rather a junkyard pull than an AZ Duracrap. I went thru 3 in like 6 months before they upgraded me to the oem and no problems since.
