We know very little about this engine and how it was previously treated.

It may have been overheated and done damage to the heads...warped :?:

I might put money on a head gasket. :?

The exaust smells like oil, its very strong.

I pulled the oil cap off and there is not suction going on.

Well yesterday I went to the cowboy game and on the way to the stadium, we ran into traffic, boy let me tell you we came to dead stops, 5 mph moving and my car was smoking like a halloween fog machine, the wind was blowing and pushed all the smoke down the side of the car and across the highway, then from a stop to a starting to move, I would lightly press the gas and it whould shove smoke out the tail even more and it would fill the road with blue smoke.

Does your car have a vacuum modulator for the transmission? If so, the diaphragm may be ruptured allowing transmission fluid to be sucked into the intake manifold. That would make a lot of smoke. To check it, pull the vacuum line from the modulator and see if it is oily inside.

The owner at the time of this change is a mechanic, he installed them him self.

The heads were replaced when the engine became locked, for what reason i dont know, all he told me was that he cleaned carbon off the pistons when the engine became locked and replaced the heads, brand new heads were installed.

Vacumm Modulator for the tranny???????? wow I have no clue, would it cause blue smoke? Where would the modulator be located?

Never mind. Smarter mechanics have informed me that your car doesn't have a vacuum modulator for the transmission. On my '95 it is located towards the front of the engine compartment with a vacuum line to the intake manifold. But I am told that '97 was the last year for them in the L36.
