Default question about daytome running lights

any way i can actually control them? when in park i can put on my parking lights and have the fog lights on (proper way to drive in fog) but as soon as the car shifts into drive i loose control of the lights, the low beams are always on

the reason i ask if i can change this is, i have a friend with a ford focus that can change the way his lights act by doing codes with the gas pedals and stuff

I would assume it is possible to wire a switch to one of the wires on the low beams(ground or positive) and just break the circuit when wanted.

is this assumption correct?

edit: of course I would wire that up with a 5pin relay so that the current for the HL doesn't have to travel all the way to the switch and back.

What year/model do you have?
If you trace the wire there is actually a clip you can disconnect instead of cutting.
