Default Problems

I searched through techinfo and couldn't find stuff on a few things.

First off, my trunk open button on the door. It doesn't work. I don't know what is wrong, the switch and the connector look fine, i don't know what to look for in thr trunk itself. what could be wrong?

Secondly, in the trunk there is a semi glow green lever off to the left if you are facing the trunk. What is it? is it the auto-release if you get stuck in the trunk. i was rolling around in there and couldn't find one, then i saw that.

Thirdly, my monitor says brake light on it. my lights work fine. is there some other light that might be messed up?

Thanks for helping the newb.

It says "brake light"?

There are four brake lamps to check... Make sure all four bulbs work when you press the brake button.

The Green Lever sounds like the fuel door manual opener.
Check all the bulbs in the brake circuit.
Have someone try the truck switch while your carefully listening back at the accuator. Do you hear a slight buzz or pop ( may be faint). Lube the solenoid assembley it may be hung up.

You should hear the trunk release relay below your glovebox when you hit the button.

Make sure your 3rd brake light has the listed bulb installed. Others will fit, but still mess with the lamp monitor. I had this happen once. Check each socket for corrosion, too.

Do you have keyless entry? If so does the trunk open with it? My car has a switch in the trunk that controls the door button. On or Off If it is turned off the door button will not work. It really gets annoying because sometimes I will bump the switch so it turns off when I don't know it.

The trunk button only works when the car is on, on some models. Try it in park, with engine running
