Default NEED HELP WITH MY TRANSMISSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The transmission fluid is red, unburnt, however it stopped working completely suddenly. It does not move at all, like all gears are neutral. Could this possible be a valve body issue or something to do with the shift mode component that this car came with? Any simple tests or checks that can be done before taking it to a tranny shop ?

the same exact thing happened to my friends '94 cutlass supreme a while back, he would put it in drive and it would just rev, and the in reverse and it would just rev, he took it to a shop and they said it was gone and he needed a new tranny.($1300)

i dont know much about trasmissions but try a few things before taking it to a tranny shop, before i had me transfluid changed my trans would slip when i put it is drive sometimes, then i would put it back in park, and then back to drive and it would work just fine, also if i punched it from like 30, instead of downshifting it would just rev......then blownbuick changed my trans fluid for me and it works like a brand new transmission.
