Default My tripometer and odometer quit working (most of the time)

One day I noticed my tripometer quit working. Not long after that I noticed the odometer was not turning all the time either. The tripometer hardly ever works, but the odometer works at least half of the time. Any idea how to fix this? Is it hard to take the dash apart enough to get to the odoemter?

Thanks,
-Ryan

Year? Trim level

There is a techinfo article on dash removals for 87-91s and 92-99 models.

It'* a '92 SE, sorry I should have included that. The article on dash removal is on this site somewhere?

Techinfo, top of the page. I assume you have the non-digital odometer and trimpmeter?

Yes, I have the non-digital meters. I found the cluster removal article, thank you.

If anyone has any idea of what I should look for when I get it apart, that would be appricated. I'm hoping just a wheel is worn or something and I can just tighten some stuff up and get it working again.

I don't _think_ you've got a mechanical speedometer cable there; you've got a pulse-counting circuit and stepper motors to drive the gauges and odometer. I would just try carefully dismantling and cleaning the cluster per the directions in TechInfo, and see if it comes back to life after that. Oxidation on the pins in the various plugs and connectors can cause all kinds of weird behavior, but the simple process of unplugging stuff and plugging it in again seems to be all that'* required most of the time.
