HUD Windshield
Thanks for the replies.
I'm surprised they sell the chinese ones if they are blurry like you've said. I know I can't afford $800 though, so I might end up with the cheap chinese version.
I'm going to ask someone who previously worked for a glass shop about adding a film for the HUD to a regular windshield. If I can't do that, I may go with the cheap chinese version (Because I don't have another $450 for a good HUD windshield).

ok when i wrecked my 94, i had to have it replaced with a non hud windshield and yes there was a difference. there was slight double vision but not bad and it was a little dull during the day time, but not unvisible, and i could still see everything, when we are broke, we have to do what we have to do, and i cant say i wasnt happy with the results seeing as the windshield was only 50 dollars and 50 dollars to install it but yes there is a difference!! just so you know
Hud windshields are manufactured very differently from non-HUD units. Just the same, quality control can have a big difference between OEM glass or high quality glass and low-quality glass. Not just in the HUD image, but also in distortion on each side of the windshield for your own visible line of sight.
HUD windshields actually have an extra layer between the normal layers of the glass. It'* thicker at the bottom than the top, leaving a wedge shaped insert inside.

Just another bit of info on the cheaper HUD windshields... I just had mine replaced yesterday with one made by PPG (according to the guys at Henderson Glass) and it works just fine... the glass itself was only $332. and it is every bit as good as stock. SO, I guess its good to say that PPG makes a good quality low cost HUD windshield.
