Default HUD WINDSHIELD??

I have a crack in my windshield and i was just wondering if i could go with a regular one instead of the one with the special film or whatever . has anyone here ever done this before?

As far as I know you can put a regular windshield in it, but you will get double images of the hub. One on the inside and one on the outside of the windshield.

would that mean that on coming traffic could see how fast you were going, like it would be visible threw the windshield?

The light would be way to dim for them to see.

Make sure that if you get your windshield replaced that you tell the company replaceing the window that it needs the speacial one for the HUD. I have heard of people getting it replaced to find out they used the standard windshield instead. Just a heads up.

With a standard windshield the HUD will be blurry.

i just had my windshield replaced two times. I hope you have comprehensive insurance cuz that glass aint cheap. It woulda cost be $2500 bucks. eeeep

I have a HUD and now a standard replacement windshield (which is already chipped AGAIN thanks to our fine road department "sanding" streets in the winter). It looks fine.

i just had it done yesterday, i went with the HUD one . it wasn;t to bad actually. cost me $380 cdn bonez !thnx for all ur help guys
