Maybe I should get mine reprogrammed. I love speed. Only use it when necessary though.

It'* not really worth it...I didn't get mine done (the person before did) so it'* of no effect $$ wise to me...but for teh chances you would actually ever get to use it are really few and far inbetween...and if you use more than that, you will have problems...it takes a while to get it up and going to the speed to, as with any car. So it'* not going to affect you weaving in and out and drag racing peopel

Actually, Bill'* car is capable of at least 140 mph. He used to have the highest velocity he had taken it posted in his sig. It was too fast. He probably removed it from his sig to keep the young'uns form trying it. The way to go is to find a chip that removes the top end limiter and make sure you have Z rated tires.

that is so true.. even though I"ve hit the governor a few times already I will have to agree that you want to make sure you're tire is able to handle it.. last thing you need is for it to blow off at that speed. I too have thought of it.. but if you really want to get rid of the top speed limiter.. do it through a chip instead.. you'll get the added benefits from the chip too.

In my old age.. I don' t think I'll be hittin it anytime soon.. but I say that everytime

.......and beyond. But there weren't any cars for miles. I've been at or above 140 three times (top speed to remain classified). All of these instances were either to prove the limiter was gone on the Jet Chip upgrade, or out of sheer boredom or stupidity. I have a good idea where the 'theoretical' devil lives, and I've been damn close. Good enough for me. Hitting a small animal above 140 would be instant death, even in a Bonneville. I actually threw a tire weight at 120+ while decellerating from a fast run just prior to getting the new tires on. It was a SMALL weight, but scared the living you-know-what out of me. Stains on leather seats clean up nicely, thank you very much.

Was going out to my grandmas last sunday and they live out on a farm in sw minnesota. Hit 120 or so on the speedo before I hit the brakes cause a decent sized hill was comming up. Only been over 100 mph twice and on the same road cause its almost always empty and its pretty flat for a couple 3 miles from the interstate. The one thing I was impressed about is that the car is smooth as glass going that fast. I remember my 73 dodge dart at 115 the steering wheel bounced like 1-2 inches up and down . I never did that again. That 318 v8 in that car was fun for me in high school. With the 195/75 14" on the car it would lite them up real nice.

The biggest handling factor at high speeds in these cars is the tires. With my old tires, the beast started getting squirrely at about 125. I theorize that the tires were expanding, raising the front of the car, which caused some aerodynamic 'lift' of the front end. This is a VEWY BAD THING.

The new tires don't do this at all, it'* just the slightly over-sensitive steering at the 125+ speeds that make you pucker your south end a bit. I don't have a reason to ever go that fast again, unless it'* at Talledega or Daytona.
