Factory Stereo Replacement
Anyone done one and how did it go? I have noticed that removing the radio causes my key in ignition/headlight warning beeper to go away. I've got plans for a Pioneer NAV-SYS900DVD which is a dvd based navigation system, but I'm concerned how tied into everything the factory stereo is. I'm also concerned about an aftermarket system fitting the space for the factory stereo without heavy modification. The stereo appears to be a plug and play type with a single connector on the back mating with the connector in the dash.
Also, I don't know if anyone on here is an Amateur Radio operator, but I just installed my rig in the car this weekend, and notice some sort of RF interference. When I turn the car off (and open the door to stop the automatic accessory thing) after a couple of seconds the interference disappears. I do have On-Star (although not activated) and thought about the possibility that it could be causing the interference.
Any Suggestions?

Amatuer radio... I'm assuming it'* either HAM or CB ?? Those unit pushes a lot of watts and will cause interferance if the antenna is placed too close to the radio antenna.. where is the intereference sound coming from ?? The unit or the radio ???

I have 4 years in radio work . The best way to install is to go to circuit city and buy the wire kit . 2 kits are needed 1 from GM wiring to socket and the other form socket to pioneer and your done . If there is any problem 70% will be the ground for the radio. If that is the case look for a closer ground. If installing amps . get the best RCA cables at first cause no matter what you do , in time you will buy them anyway.
