Nah, it'* just a few bad windings at one spot. It won't hurt anything and costs a lot to fix.

I find those kind of problems easy to ignore.

FIrst suspect with a rough idle is always plugs and wires. Also, pull the plugs wires off one by one where each connect to the coils. Those terminals have been known to rust on some. Can try cleaning it up with some steel wool, then put some dielectric grease on it. If you find some, you'll want to clean out the plug wire end also. I've found one on my 2000, my friend'* 2000, my son'* 99 GP, and my daughter'* boyfriend'* 2000 GP.

The cat is doable, if you're good with a hacksaw and want to spend the time cutting the old one out. It is not repairable. Costs vary depending on what type you want to get.

Some have found some luck with the fuel sender by using an cleaner with the Techron additive. Here'* the link.

http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...hlight=techron

Tried 3 bottles so far in my son'* GP, and so far it has not corrected the problem.

Clean up all the connections you can find (battery, grounds, starter, etc.)

If you run into problems, we can probably set up a time where we can all look it over.

Yup, mine was like that for the first 50 miles of a full tank. My wife ran out of gas a few times so I figured it was time to change it. Plus, I changed the fuel pump too. It'* good preventative maintenance to replace that as well if you change the sender.

I'm too anal to let small issues like that go...

4.) At a stop, with the blinker on, the engine sounds the lull everytime the blinker flashes, but the alternator and battery were checked and were okay.
1. Check and clean off the mass airflow sensors, plug wires for tightness / cracked wires / boots are over the plugs fully

2. don't know how to explain this
3. Bad sending unit / voltage regulator / sensor for the float possibly
4. mine does this, too. i ran a continuity test, and everything else i knew or could think of, didn't find a problem, i just use the blinker, engine hasn't died yet

good luck

With that sending unit, she put in some valvoline fuel system cleaner in her tank about 3 semi fill ups ago[half-tank or more]. Could that have "gummed" up the sending unit? Cause before she put the cleaner in, she didnt have a problem with the gauge. I entertained the idea of running the tank till E then filling it up to get any last bits of the cleaner out, and she thought about putting premium in, but that would probably be a waste of money.

I dont think its pinging, probably linked to the cat. My moms nissan pathfinder had a rattle at WOT that turned out to be the cat, if it were pinging, it would be a constant noise, instead of just and only at WOT.

I doubt that the system cleaner was the cause of the problem. Just to be sure, I talked to m son about it, as he works at Valvoline part time. They have had no reported problems with people using the sytem cleaner, even with less than a fuel tank.

Unless the knock sensors are also defective, I doubt that it'* pinging.
