I believe it is the rear bearing. It'* causing a noise and tensioner pulley to jerk a bit. Although the noise is a bit annoying, I'm concerned that it may not make the 8 hour trip to NEBF, and if it does, it may not make it back. I have a couple months to fix it.

I had priced typical repair parts for the voltage control on mine and brushes, IIRC, and they were outrageous at Advanced. It made the whole GM reman unit at $124 look a lot easier and quicker. I've done alternator work long ago so I wasn't afraid of it, but the prices for parts were ripoffs.
