Default AC Compressor Bypass --- '95 SE

Hi all, just a quick question. Sorry if this has been covered already. I did a search and found nothing on this.

I have a '95 SE, and the pulley and clutch plate on my AC compressor are going bad, and making a horrible noise.

Since I never use my AC, I was wondering if I could bypass the AC compressor pulley altogether, using a smaller belt. Would this cause any problems?

If anyone has done this, what was the part number for the belt?

Thanks in advance!

You can bypass it. Others have done it before, but I don't think anyone ever posted the part number for the belt used.

You could measure it out and take that measurement to the parts store. That should get you close.

You may be able to get a "compressor delete pully". This will allow you to pull the compressor off, replace with the pully and run the same belt. You may have to put a jumper on the line pressure switch to get the cooling fans to work correctly. I had to do this on my "95 Olds 88. I was unable to find a delete pully specifically for a '95 Olds. I bought one for a "96 Bonneville, had to fab a simple brace but it is still working fine.
