Default 97 SSEI Security Problem

Hi, im new to the board. I have a 97 SSEI with factory security. Sat. morning wife was out yard sailing, She got back into the car to leave and nothing. dash lights up turn key and nothing, tried spare key and nothing thinking it might have been the chip in the key.
let the car sit for a while tried again nothing. I'm thinking it may be the security system but not sure any ideas on how to fix? or does it have to go to the dealer?
Thanks in advance TW

Default Same thing happened to me

Isn't that annoying! It used to happen to me everytime I'd use the remote to unlock the doors and someone got in before the drivers door opened? I ended up taking the fuse for the security system out. Anyways just dissconnect the battery for a few seconds, then reconnect and away u go...good luck.

lick the chip in the key, wait until SECURITY light goes out and try again.

Have you tried BOTH master keys? Maybe one chip in one key is worn/damaged? The other thing might be the ignition cylinder itself. if that'* the case then a new ignition cylinder will be needed with 2 new Vats keys that have the proper code (15 different codes BTW). This option is rather expensive though, so make sure first.

Also, try taking it out of gear and then pushing it back to park. Sometimes if it doesn't quite get all the way to park it won't try to turn over. The steering wheel being turned also sometimes does this.

Hey guys thanks for your help, it turned out to be broken wires in the ignition.
